Located on the east side of Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the largest museums in New York and throughout the world and contains works from almost every single legendary European and American artist in history.

Occupying a total of 2 million square feet, you’ll want to arrive early in the day to the museum in order to get in as much art as possible. There are over 2 million pieces in the Met’s permanent collection, including a diverse bunch of exciting paintings, sculptures, and musical instruments. Two of the most famous exhibits are the Egyptian ruins and the panoramic room of Versailles.

There is no official admission fee into the Metropolitan Museum of Art, only a suggested donation of $25 per person – although it is common for people to donate far less than that, so don’t feel bad putting in $5 or less.

This is by far one of the best museums in New York and is a highly entertaining experience for visitors from all over the world.
